*Abstract/Description of Event/Activity:
Panelists at the Washington, DC Forum will discuss the social acceptability of illegal drug use among adolescents; the extensive advertising that makes altering chemicals culturally acceptable; the importance of good parenting in adolescent substance abuse prevention and intervention or treatment; the drugs of choice among adolescents in the Washington DC area; the lack of commitment by policymakers to invest in prevention and intervention; and relevant data regarding substance abuse and addiction among adolescents. The discussion will also highlight the linkage of tobacco use to other drug use and rebellious behaviors, and the linkage of substance abuse to a wide spectrum of adolescent health problems.

*Abstract/Description of Event/Activity:
The Stigma Reduction Forum is a forum to raise awareness of the stigmas associated with persons who are substance users/abusers, in recovery, or professionals in the field of Addiction Disorders. There will be interactive panels with community responses, as well participation by some of the most respected people in the field.
