Symposium- Binge Drinking at Iowa's College's and Universities: Steps Toward More Effective Prevention
*Abstract/Description of Event/Activity:
Prairielands Addiction Technology Transfer Center and the University of Iowa Stepping Up project will sponsor a symposium. The morning panel will be held at 10:00 in the Iowa Memorial Union, Terrace Room, located in Iowa City, Iowa. Anne Helene Skinstad, Director of the Prairielands ATTC will moderate 5 speakers, including the Stepping Up coordinator, research findings from Dr. Peter Nathan's four-year study of binge drinking at the University of Iowa and presentations by representatives of a private college and a community college. In the afternoon, open discussion groups will be facilitated to identify the next steps. If the participants who attend this event decide they wish to form an on-going network, we will facilitate that process. We also plan to publish proceedings from this event. No registration fee will be charged. However, we request pre-registration to aid our preparations.
