We hope to promote National Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Month - Recovering Our Future- One Youth at a Time and awareness of youth substance abuse and recovery issues, and local resources, along with the following talks: WHAT: "Teens Using Drugs: How To Know and What To Do" is a free, two-part workshop series designed to help parents, families and people who work with or care about teens learn how to recognize when a teen is harmfully involved with alcohol and other drugs and take appropriate, timely and effective action. These workshops can make a difference to families who are struggling with issues related to teen alcohol/other drug use and to professionals who want to help. Part 1 - "How To Know": How to recognize the signs of a teen substance abuse problem, understand the progression of substance abuse, and know when a teen's use of alcohol and other drugs requires action. Part 2 - "What To Do": What should and should not be done when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized. Part 2 will usually include a recovering teen speaker. All presentations are free and open to the public. No registration is required. A certificate of attendance can be provided. A variety of free literature will be available. Refreshments will be provided. Ample free parking is available. WHO: The workshops are presented by Ronald Harrison, SW. Ron is a social worker with 28 years of experience working in diverse settings with substance-involved teens and their families, who has presented many education and training programs on teen substance use, addiction and family issues.
