The 24 Group was named in memory of David Manlove, the son of two founding board members, who died at the age of 16 from the disease of addiction. After David’s death, the Manloves chose the symbol of a hawk to represent their son. In Native American tradition,
hawks are messengers that soar between heaven and earth. They help to open our eyes to a vision of a better and brighter future. The Hawk Walk: First Steps to Recovery is David’s message of hope for a brighter future for those struggling with the disease of
addiction.

The 24 Group is a not for profit public foundation that was founded in 2006 by a group of parents who met while one of their loved ones was in treatment for substance abuse. The choices that our loved ones made with regard to drug use placed them and us
