Meth Abuse Awareness Night  (1845)

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), an estimated 10.4 million Americans aged 12 or older used methamphetamine at least once in their lifetimes. The professional team at Journey Healing Centers will host a Meth Abuse Awareness
Night to discuss the signs of use, how to help a loved one and answer questions. To help thousands of teens going back to school, Journey Healing Centers is also providing insights on meth addiction in Listen Magazine’s September issue that is distributed
worldwide to highschools.

help available. These community outreach programs are designed to assist individuals and loved ones find solutions for how to deal with growing addictions such as binge drinking on college campuses, prescription drug abuse for the elderly on multiple medications,
and methamphetamine addictions. (PRWEB) September 1, 2010 -- To support the National Alcohol And Drug Addiction Recovery Month this September, Journey Healing Centers (drug and alcohol rehabilitation treatment) is offering free educational programs to provide
answers and solutions so no one has to face substance abuse alone. There are alarming statistics that make these Substance Abuse Awareness Nights urgent, including: 75% of the alcohol consumed by adults in the US is in the form of binge drinks (CDC), a 400%
increase in painkiller drug abuse in the past 10 years (SAMHSA), and a 90% addiction rate after first-time use of methamphetamines (NPR). "Recovery Month serves to educate the public on substance abuse as a national health crisis, that addiction is a treatable
disease, and that recovery is possible (http://recoverymonth.gov)." These Substance Abuse Awareness Nights will highlight the issues, warning signs and treatment options to assist the client/patient, family, friends, workplace and community heal together.

free 24-hour helpline: 1-866-774-5119.) 1. College Substance Abuse Awareness Night - To assist college students who are starting the school year, Journey Healing Centers will hold a Substance Abuse Awareness Night. This event can be helpful for parents of
college students and/or students. Topics will include Alcohol Poisoning, Binge Drinking, Date Rape Drugs, Depression versus Homesickness, Marijuana as Gateway Drug, and how can loved ones identify and help those dealing with substance abuse. According to the
CDC, the proportion of current drinkers that binge is highest in the 18- to 20-year-old group (51%). 2. Prescription Drug Abuse / Elderly Awareness Night - To prevent prescription drug abuse, and especially for the elderly facing problems that often arise
from taking too many prescriptions on a regular basis (Polypharmacy), Journey Healing Centers will hold a Prescription Drug Abuse/ Elderly Awareness event. The National Council on Patient Information and Education explains, "Almost 40% of seniors are unable
to read prescription labels, and 67% are unable to understand information given to them." Based on these statistics, families should review their elderly parent's prescriptions, side effects, addiction potential and ask questions. 3. Meth Abuse Awareness Night
