The Physiology of Addiction

"The Physiology of Addiction" will be presented by Carl Christensen, MD, Ph.D.; Addictionologist. This program will explore the differences in neurochemistry between the addicted brain and the normal brain, the progression of physiological changes that
occur in people with alcohol/other drug addiction, the mechanisms of physiologic tolerance and withdrawal, and the effects of treatment on the addicted brain. This program is part of the annual Dawn Farm Education Series. All programs are free and open to
anyone interested. Registration is not required. 1.5 hours of free C.E. approved by the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals is offered for each program. A certificate to document attendance is provided on request. The Education Series
is organized by Dawn Farm, a non-profit community of programs providing a continuum of chemical dependency services.
