Theme rationale:The recent survey of states indicates that the District of Columbia has the highest rate of alcohol & substance abuse in the entire nation. The recovery of this vulnerable population will enhance life for the individual, family and the
District of Columbia communities. Whereas the educational program for addiction counselors is now mandated to include Associate Degrees for entry level practice; the Community College student honor society seeks to have discourse with substance abuse professionals
and college administrators to combine forces with the very capable professional substance abuse education program and credentialing boards to facilitate this progress.
