Hope Homes 5th Annual Run for Recovery at KSU  (3968)

09/22/2012 8:00 AM - 09/22/2012 12:30 PM

Hope Homes Collegiate is hosting the 5th Annual Run for Recovery 5k on the campus of Kennesaw State University in order to promote awareness about addiction and recovery in the community. Each September, along with many other events across the country,
the Run for Recovery 5k is held as part of National Recovery Month. Through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as well as other networks and websites, these events come together to promote awareness about the struggles individuals
in recovery face and to reduce the stigma behind addiction nation-wide. The Run for Recovery 5k run/walk event is host to approximately 350 race participants and volunteers from Kennesaw State University and the local Kennesaw and Atlanta area. The 5k run/walk
is followed by a post-race event where local vendors give away complimentary items, a raffle is held to give away donations, and cash prizes and medals are awarded to top-placing runners. All proceeds from the race go to support the Hope Homes Scholarship
Fund.
