Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do  (3816)

"Teens Using Drugs: What To Know and What To Do" is a FREE, ongoing, two-part workshop series designed to help participants learn to understand, identify and address adolescent alcohol/other drug problems. Part 1 occurs on the first Tuesdays of October,
November, and January through June (exception: second Tuesday in January 2013,) and provides information on how to understand and recognize the signs of a teen substance abuse problem. Part 2 occurs on the second Tuesdays of October, November, and January
through June (exception: third Tuesday in January 2013,) provides information on what does and doesn’t help when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized, and concludes with a teen speaker in recovery. The series is presented by adolescent substance abuse
therapists from Dawn Farm and Growth Works. All programs are free and open to all. The presentations are targeted primarily to parents and caretakers of teens, but are also inclusive of teens, family members, people who work with teens, students, and anyone
interested in attending for any reason. All are welcome to attend! Registration is not required. A certificate to document attendance can be provided on request.

Type of Event: Education


Program Agenda: Part 1 provides information on how to understand and recognize the signs of a teen substance abuse problem. Part 2 provides information on what should and should not be done when a teen substance abuse problem is recognized. Part 2 includes a recovering
teen speaker. Part 1 is repeated every first Tuesday of October, November, and January through June, and part 2 is repeated every second Tuesday of October, November, and January through June (EXCEPTION: second and third Tuesdays in January 2013, due to New
Year’s Day.)


Invited Officials / Presenters: The workshops are presented by Dawn Farm and Growth Works adolescent substance abuse therapists. March workshops will be presented by Brian Spitsbergen MA, LLPC, CAADC; Director, Community Intervention and Treatment (CITx,) Growth Works, Inc.

Invited Participants / Audience: The programs are free and open to anyone interested. It is targeted primarily to parents and other family members, but is inclusive of teens, people who work with teens, students in helping professions, and others. Anyone interested in attending for any
reason is welcome.
