Rally for Recovery-English Ave  (5849)

09/28/2013 2:00 PM - 09/28/2013 5:00 PM

This outdoor event will feature presentations from adults in recovery, a motivational speech from a youth leader, a call-to-action from the EANA director encouraging residents to join in community efforts to address the issues of addiction in English Avenue,
as well as a musical performance from a local artist who will leverage rap music to promote the message of recovery. In addition, information regarding prevention, treatment and recovery services available, specifically, in the English Avenue neighborhood
will be distributed in “goodie” bags to attendees. Information about community resources will also be distributed by participating agencies providing services addressing addiction, mental health, youth services and homelessness. A professional DJ, a children’s
fun truck, family activities, food and t-shirt giveaways will be used to draw interest to the speaker presentations and information tables. The Rally for Recovery event will bring together local residents, community leaders, service providers and the recovery
community to commemorate National Recovery Month and to promote community dialogue around the issues of mental health and substance abuse.
