2012 Art Exhibition

Recovery Art Exhibition at UNCW  (5431)

07/08/2013 9:00 AM - 08/15/2013 5:00 PM

Evidence-based studies have shown that when young people feel that drugs and alcohol will harm them, they are less likely to use these drugs. Other studies have shown that when people want recovery, and know that it is possible, they are more likely to
seek it. We are pleased tell you about our third annual Recovery Art Exhibition for high school and college students, age 14-29, in New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties whose work is selected to appear in a juried two-dimensional art exhibition on "Drug
Addiction and/or Recovery". Drugs include alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, or abused prescription drugs. There is no entry fee and artists retain ownership of their original artwork. In previous years, the exhibit was said to be “important”, “incredible”,
“amazing”, and “brought tears to my eyes”. The exhibition of selected pieces is held at the Sherman L. Hayes Gallery (1st floor) of the Randall Library at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) in July and August. Monetary awards are given for
the top three submissions. Forms can be found at www.LCWProductions.com/ART.html. Submissions are due April 15, 2013.
