Recovery Month Celebration  (11802)

09/09/2014 9:00 AM - 09/11/2014 1:00 PM

Recovery Month is an annual observance to create awareness, provide preventative education, celebrate recovery, educate about treatment, and the importance of behavioral health. We utilize this event to remove stigmas about recovery. This event is in conjunction
with the HBCU-CFE grant where students serve as peer educators for the campus community and intern at local community agencies throughout the year as we understand that recovery is a continual process. In addition, we want to remain knowledgeable about substance
abuse, new treatments, and stay informed about recovery related programs. This event has allowed Xavier University to provide the campus community with educational materials, tools, panel discussions and workshops on substance abuse to engage the campus community.
It is vital to have community agencies involved so the campus community is aware of local treatment resources. Recovery and behavioral health is a major part of various wellness activities hosted on campus including Recovery Celebration, Wellness Awareness
Week, Wellness Awareness Day, Denim Day and Employee Health and Fitness Day as well as residential life programming.
