Smoking during pregnancy may not cause substance use and abuse in offspring after all, researchers reported.  Several studies have shown results "consistent" with the notion that maternal smoking during pregnancy leads to an increased risk for substance use and substance problems for the children, according to Brian D'Onofrio, PhD, of Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., and colleagues.
