Teens with Worst Psychopathic Traits Show Long-Term Problems

New research on youth with psychopathic personality traits suggests that groups experiencing low and moderate behaviors usually grow out of their rebellious stage, yet those with high levels of delinquent behavior often develop adult antisocial traits. Most youth are concerned about other people’s feelings, feel bad or guilty when they have done something wrong, and typically adhere to social rules and regulations. A small group of youth, however, express psychopathic personality traits that are associated with adult psychopathy — a serious personality disorder that is linked with antisocial behavior and criminality.
