Voices for Recovery

Jamie Brown (01/29/2009)

I was born in New York and have lived in Indiana for the past two years. Indiana is far behind in drug treatment and we need more money to serve people addicted to drugs and alcohol. We need long team treatment. I have been clean now for 12.5 years and I have been working as a counselor for 8 years. I'm lead I.O.P. counselor here at our facility in Indianapolis, IN, Salvation Army Harbor Light. We serve the poor and low income which, could be the same. I am proud of the work we do here and we all know that dealing with addicts can be very hard. Sometimes this job can get to you because this ugly disease has taken a grip on society and wil not let go. It seems like the addict is becoming more resistant to treatment. Difference breed! They are coming in younger everyday.
