Recovery Month Annual Event Award Program

Awards will be presented on September 6, 2018 in Washington D.C.

SAMHSA is proud to sponsor this awards program that acknowledges the efforts of those who planned and organized events to observe Recovery Month in 2017.

The 2018 Recovery Month Annual Event Award Program application form (PDF | 290 KB) is now available for events posted to the Recovery Month Website by December 31, 2017. Recovery Month event planners from 2017 will receive notification when the application is available as well as the deadline to submit. Award winners are not eligible to receive awards in consecutive years. Please refer to this sample application (PDF | 141 KB) as a guide.

There are three award categories:

  1. Rally and Walk/Run Events: Includes events such as walks and/or runs, motorcycle/bicycle rides, and rallies
  2. Educational Events: Includes events such as forums, town hall meetings, trainings, health fairs, movie or video discussion groups, provider or treatment center open houses with educational components, and faith-based lectures or trainings
  3. Special Celebrations: Includes events such as art shows, picnics, cookouts, awards programs, concerts, open houses, entertainment events, communication/media events, sporting events such as baseball games, festivals, poetry jams, and worship or prayer services

One winner from each category will be selected. Travel arrangements and expenses will be paid for one person from each of the winning organizations to attend the 2018 Recovery Month Luncheon in September 2018, to accept the 2017 Recovery Month Annual Events Award. In addition, winning organizations will receive access to “Recovery Month Event Award Winner” banners to highlight their organization’s accomplishment.
