Georgetown University Health Policy Institute

The Health Policy Institute at Georgetown University is a multi-disciplinary group of faculty and staff dedicated to conducting research on key issues in health policy and health services research. Institute members are engaged in diverse projects, focusing on issues relating to health care financing, the uninsured, federal health insurance reforms, quality of care and outcomes research, mental health services research, and the impact of changes in the health care market on providers and patients.

Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) administers Medicaid, the State Children's Insurance Program, and the health insurance portability standards. CMS is also responsible for the administrative simplification standards from the Health Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, quality standards in long-term care facilities (nursing homes) through its survey and certification process, clinical laboratory quality standards under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, and oversight of
