These groups support individuals and organizations that offer health care services in an effort to enhance quality of care.

American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA)

The American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) works exclusively for licensed mental illness counselors by advocating for legislation that expands, enhances, and protects the right to practice; promotes mental illness awareness; and builds the profession of mental illness counseling nationally. AMHCA works to enhance the profession of clinical mental health counseling through licensing, advocacy, education, and professional development.

American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA)

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) is a professional organization with 7,000 members committed to the specialty practice of psychiatric mental illness nursing, health promotion through identification of mental illness, prevention of mental illness, and the care and treatment of people with mental health issues. APNA is a resource for psychiatric mental illness nursing, and it was recently named as one of American Chronicle's Top 10 Industry Associations in Nursing.

APHA, Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Section (ATOD)

The Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) Section is a portion of the American Public Health Association (APHA) website that offers downloadable newsletters, each year’s program for the ATOD Section at the APHA Convention, and a leadership directory of email links to active members of the ATOD Section. ATOD works to develop, foster, and advocate for sound research, policy, and practice in the fields of ATOD epidemiology, prevention, and treatment.
